Student Business is an innovative program established in 2001 by MR3 Montréal Relève, a non-profit organization founded in 1995 as a result of an agreement between the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal and the Ville of Montréal.
Its goal? To encourage school retention and to take part in preparing the emerging generation by allowing young people to explore different occupations and professions in the various sectors of Montréal’s economy.
Each year, over 2,000 Secondary 3 and 4 students register for the Student Business program and prepare for their internships through training given by the MR3 Montréal Relève team. Since the program was launched, 750 organizations—more than half of which are in the private sector—have offered internships to close to 9,000 teens.
A look back at the 2010-2011 edition:
During the summer of 2011, over 900 students had the opportunity to take part in internships in one of Student Business’s 230 partner organizations, exploring occupations and professions in various sectors of activity.
