| WHY HAITI? |
|
In the wake of the earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12 of this year, the international community rallied to come to the aid of the “Pearl of the Antilles.” Donating countries, the UN, NGOs, and international financial institutions committed themselves to rebuilding the country, both to improve the living conditions of disaster victims and to develop Haitian institutions and infrastructures on lasting foundations. The needs for recovery are immense, as is the demand for products and services from abroad.
The World Bank (WB), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the CIDA are key players in the reconstruction, and their projects offer businesses the opportunity to fully participate in the country’s recovery, in a wide variety of sectors.
The World Trade Centre Montréal is inviting you to attend a seminar to help determine how to position your company in Haiti’s recovery through projects funded by the WB and the IDB. Various activities are being offered:
- Workshop on the role and strategy of the WB and the IDB in Haiti, and their contracting and supply systems
- Information session on the Interim Haiti Recovery Commission and the Haitian government’s schedule
- Conference on the opportunities for partnership with the Haitian private sector
- Individual meetings with WB and IDB supply managers, as well as with Haiti Reconstruction Fund's representatives (space is limited, registration required, no additionnal fees)
- Individual meetings with government representatives who can support your offer of products and services to be used for recovery efforts in Haiti: DFAIT, MDEIE, and EDC (no additional fees, on site reservations only).
- Introductory workshop on conducting business with Multilateral Development Banks like the WD and the IDB (This workshop will take place on September 22 and is open to participants registered for September 24. Register now, space is limited.)
