BIZ STONE
  • Became an Internet entrepreneur in 1999, and is recognized as a forefather of the Social Web.
    Co-founded Twitter after a time at Google. Launched back in 2006, Twitter is now used by more than 200 million individuals.
  • Stone was named Nerd of the Year by GQ, one of the most influential people in the world by TIME Magazine, Entrepreneur of the Decade by Inc. Magazine, and one of Vanity Fair’s Top Ten Most Influential People of the Information Age.
  • He has been honoured with the International Center for Journalism Innovation Award.
  • He is an associate fellow at Oxford University’s Saïd Business School and an associate member, Senior Common Room at Oxford University’s Exeter College. He is also executive fellow at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and advisor to this university's School of Information.
  • Stone has published a number of papers as well as two books promoting the democratization of information on the Web. He also acts as an advisor for many companies, ranging from tiny start-ups to publicly traded companies, by way of nonprofit organizations. Among others, he is a social impact advisor for Internet access provider AOL.
  • To him, helping others is helping oneself. He advocates bold entrepreneurship based on a more altruistic measure of success where the value of the work takes precedence over profit.
