JOIN A TRADE MISSION TO BRAZIL

Develop your business on a booming market!

THE MISSION AT A GLANCE

Brazil is a leader in Latin America and continues to gain importance on the international scene. With a strong 7.5% growth of its GDP in 2010, the country is abounding with business opportunities in several sectors. This is why the Canadian government has designated it to be a priority market for our local businesses.

WHY BRAZIL AND ARGENTINA?

Business opportunities abound, and there are several spheres to take into consideration:

  • Infrastructure and social development
The Brazilian government plans to spend $959 billion US between 2011 and 2016, notably to host the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and the Olympics in 2016.
  • Transportation
Several projects are planned, including the expansion of a dozen airports, construction of roads, new ports, a rapid railway running between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, and new subway lines in São Paulo. Also of note is the significant presence of Embraer, the world’s 3rd largest builder in the aeronautics sector.
  • Information technology
Brazil is South America’s main ITC market. With a population of 192 million inhabitants, there is considerable consumption of such goods as mobile phones, computers, software, televisions, and telecommunications infrastructures. Sales volume largely makes up for the administrative challenges in this sector.
  • Environment
According to Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, the clean technologies market should grow by 10% annually. Water management is one of several sectors in which there are many opportunities for Canadian businesses.
  • Life sciences
The Brazilian government is investing in the modernization of its public health network. Private hospitals will also be built in the future.
  • Consumer goods
The Brazilian middle class grows by millions of new consumers each year. Consumer staples such as washers, dryers, televisions, and other items are in high demand.
