Provigo and Loblaws Quebec

Pierre Dandoy’s retail industry career has spanned more than 30 years to date, during which he has held virtually every position.

Since his very beginnings at Steinberg at the turn of the 1980s – first as a supermarket manager and then as an operations manager – he has devoted himself to customer service. His main source of pride and motivation rests in his ability to contribute to meeting all of the expectation of the customers who enter the points of sale he oversees.

Throughout his career, Mr. Dandoy has also been captivated with business development. He particularly enjoys collaborating closely with merchants to grow their business. Incidentally, he was offered the opportunity to contribute to such development in 1993, when he joined Provigo in operations management capacities. He successively became Senior Manager – Marketing and Development, and Vice-President – Operations, for the Maxi and Maxi & Cie Quebec banners.

At the end of 2000, he took the next step in his career and joined Wal-Mart as Regional Vice-President – Eastern Canada. This new role called for undertaking a stimulating yet demanding challenge: meeting the needs of consumers from many cultures in a country as immensely vast as Canada. In 2002, he moved on to RONA, where he was first nominated Senior Vice-President – Superstores, then Senior Vice-President – Retail Operations, in charge of a network of more than 200 stores grouped under various banners across Canada.

In February 2011, Pierre Dandoy returned to the food retail sector as Senior Vice-President, Operations, Conventional Division at Loblaw Companies Limited. He was called upon to undertake the daunting task of revitalizing this division in the Quebec market and to enable the banners under his supervision to climb back to the leading position.

Mr. Dandoy is a member of the Boards of Directors of Collège Édouard-Montpetit and the Longueuil Théâtre de la Ville, and is Vice-Chairman of the Board of the Retail Council of Canada. He is also the Patron of Honour of Moisson Montréal’s main annual fundraising event.

The activity will be held in French.
