The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal
proudly associates with Journées de la culture

Montreal, September 23, 2004 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal is proud to associate, for the first time this year, with Journées de la culture (now in its eighth edition), by transforming its offices, Friday, September 24, 2004, into an art gallery featuring many guest artists, including “Les Femmeuses.” This endeavour will provide these artists with an exceptional showcase available to Board of Trade members and the general public.

“For the Board of Trade, creativity and cultural vitality are essential to the quality of life and appeal of major cities. Artists are one of Montreal 's priceless assets, and that is why we are pleased to be able to count on their vitality – and, above all, their talent! – to raise the cultural profile of our metropolis. This is all the more important given that one of the major challenges facing Montreal in the coming years will be to develop the means not only to attract talent but also to retain it. And one of the most significant measures of Montreal's success as a world-class metropolis will be its ability to promote creativity and to use this vitality as a catalyst for its dynamic forces in every sector of activity,” explained Benoit Labonté, president of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal.

The Journées de la culture were launched in 1997 to celebrate and promote public access to Quebec 's culture. During three days of free activities, the Journées de la culture offer a multitude of unique opportunities for the general public to enjoy culture and the arts in large and small communities throughout the province.

The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal has some 7,000 members. Its primary mission is to represent the interests of the business community of the Greater Montreal and to provide individuals, merchants, and businesses of all sizes with a variety of specialized services to help them achieve their full potential in terms of innovation, productivity and competitiveness. The Board of Trade is Quebec's leading private economic development organization.
