Resignation of the president and CEO of
the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal: Isabelle Hudon

Montréal, October 20, 2008 — The chair of the board of directors of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal, Ms. Hélène Desmarais, regretfully announces that Ms. Isabelle Hudon, president and CEO of the organization, will step down on October 31. The board of directors has received and accepted the resignation of Isabelle Hudon who, after six years with the organization, has decided to take up a new challenge.

“Isabelle Hudon distinguished herself as the head of the Board of Trade with her impressive sense of leadership that rests on a solid understanding of the issues, her highly developed strategic sensibilities, and her management abilities. Over the last few years, I have had the privilege of working in close collaboration with her and I was able to appreciate for myself the true passion she feels for Montréal, together with a real ability to make things happen and to catalyze the efforts of the entire community for this great cause that animates her,” declared Hélène Desmarais.

“Isabelle Hudon has played a leading role in successfully championing causes that many thought to be lost, and her time as president an CEO of the Board of Trade was both a pivotal and eventful one for Montréal,” continued Hélène Desmarais.

“I thank all of the members of the Board of Trade for the confidence they placed in me over the years: they are our organization's raison d'être, and it is for them that I expended time and energy in order to create the best environment possible to ensure their success. I also thank the members of the board of directors who gave me their support and fostered my determination to defend this great and noble cause that is so dear to me: Montréal! Rest assured that when one champions such a cause, one does not desert it. It is taken along wherever one may go… Finally, as I have often said, and rightly so: I have had the opportunity to work with an incredible, conscientious, and passionate team. And if I was able to serve the interests of our members as I did, it is thanks to all of the work this team accomplished in the background, and I am extremely grateful to them,” added Isabelle Hudon.

The board of directors has already begun the process of finding a successor to Isabelle Hudon, who will step down on October 31, 2008. The Board of Trade will be able to count on the active presence of the treasurer of the board of directors, Mr. Roger Plamondon, during the transition period, as well as on the expertise of the management team, to continue to effectively represent the interests of its members and offer a range of services centred on the specific needs of the business community.

“If the Board of Trade has become, over the years, Quebec's leading private organization devoted to the development of the full potential of the city and its businesses, it is thanks not only to strong leadership and proud and committed members, but also because we have been able to count on the participation of a board of directors whose members reflect the diversity and dynamism of Montréal activity and on a solid team dedicated to the cause of the city. It is therefore with serenity that we will pursue our mission and continue to heartily defend the interests of our members, thanks to a solid three-year plan and a seasoned team,” concluded Hélène Desmarais.

The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal has some 7,000 members. Its mission is to represent the interests of the business community of Greater Montréal and to provide individuals, merchants, and local businesses of all sizes with a variety of specialized services to help them achieve their full potential in terms of innovation, productivity and competitiveness. The Board of Trade is Quebec's leading private economic development organization.
